Luke Rideout - Uchuukaizoku Deluxe! (Finished!)

Postby SpacePirateCaine on Sat Jun 11, 2005 5:04 pm

Ahoy - My name's Luke Rideout, and I was challenged, so to speak, by SpectralAesthete to join the competition, so I'm in. I have officially begun at 2:50 PM Japan time, and will do my best to finish with time to spare... if possible. The comic is to be called "Uchuukaizoku Deluxe!" (Space Pirates Deluxe), and is a little mini-comic based off of my own comic. Hope it's enjoyed.

The title page - I spent way too much time prettying this one up. I'm going to need to not use my brush pen, for one thing, and no more page reformatting in photoshop.

Well, I've finished - Towards the end it not only got really messy and sparse, but I didn't have enough time to ink the words on pages 17-20, or ink at all pages 21-24. When I do this next time, I'll have to rethink my work strategy... And not stop to watch Gladiator half way through.

Anyway, enjoy the comic. I cut 'er close, and some of the text near the end may be almost unintelligible, but life goes on, I guess. And the last line, since it's partially cut off, is 'I guess i'd better get my coat'. Not the ending I'd planned actually, but still at least worth a sympathetic chuckle.

23 hours, 53 minutes.

Arr.

I enjoyed that. You achieve quite a lot with only a few lines.

Hey Luke, nice effort. Yeah, it was getting harder to read towards the end there but at least you finished it. Well done!

Those were some of the cutest space pirates I've ever seen ^_^

I very much liked the style and it was silly in places (not a criticism -- I like silly) and yes. Yaaaar! I wish I could achieve that sort of open drawing style; mine always seems to get too cluttered.

Thank you all for reading the comic, my good friends - it was a learning experience. I do apologise for the lack of quality towards the end, I probably should've finished it all before I went to bed, as opposed to go "This is a piece of cake, time to watch Gladiator". On the bright side, Russel Crowe still rocks.

Next time I do it, though, I'm going to need to use full-sized pages, instead of big ones subdivided into quarters (to save paper).

Anyways, cheers!
