Gary Wong - The Silent King #3 Prelude - Sydney

Postby LordGaz on Sat Jun 11, 2005 3:10 pm

Since I only have time for a 8 pager, I'm going to be telling a part from the Silent King #3, which was planned to be released...well....today but yeah, being smashed with Uni work right now.

I recommend you read both Issue 1 and 2 of the Silent King before you proceed with this story at http://www.geocities.com/taolgaz/comics-sk.htm

Alright I'm behind because I've been slacking off...haven't lettered this yet. I usually do it all in the end, so there you go!

Okay, so far this part is set 4 years before Silent King #2. More to come!

Okay I think I'll have to call it quits now. It's almost 4 am and I can't stay awake anymore. Lost the power to move on. Man I don't know how I did it in the last 2 years. This year I'm just simply too tired......

Hey Gaz,

Shame you didn't turn out 8 like you wanted, but hey, you still have 3 comic pages that you didn't have a day ago! Awesome detail as usual and your expressions have improved a lot from previous years.

I like what I see so far, I'm looking forawrd to seeing more done on this.
I'm curious as to how this ties up with the silent king story.
Well, I don't want a renegade necrophile princess as MY roomate!

its a shame I only see your stuff once a year, Gary, you've got great art skills and your story telling really carries your silent stories along

Stephen Bai: Well since it might take me years to actually letter this, I'll tell you here what it ties to. Since the Silent King #2 is set 5 years after Issue #1, there's this whole gap of time where Jory was lost (Issue #1). The 3 pages that I've done is the back story to Issue 2, showing us why there were rebels in issue 2 (This is set 4 years before Issue 2). Gregon, appearing in Page #3, is a peaceful villager returning from a hunt to find their village in ruins, and his wife and children brutally murdered. In page 4,(which I will post later) is Gregon and his companion holding his wife and children crying. Then he will FIND a badge which Jory left on purpose to mislead him into thinking that this whole CHAOS was done under the command of the Kings Men, ie. the rebellions begin. There will also a series of villages going through the same fate, hence more people joined in.

Also, what happened to the woman in Page 2 Panel 1 is something we'll see later on. Let's say Jory is no longer "human". But that will all come in Issue 3. I've actually started Issue #0.5, which would directly lead to Issue 1. Things in it will include:
- The reason why the last King died,
- an introduction to a character which will play a huge role in Issue #3 which would stem into a very interesting character for a future comic I dream of producing.

Glad you enjoyed it, seriously! Thanks!

Mark Selan: Yeah I reckon! I don't produce enough stuff each year! i did draw a comic for someone during last year, so if you haven't seen it, link is right here: http://www.spiteshow.com/gingerbox/viewtopic.php?t=3913&highlight=unbound

Sweet stuff. I enjoyed the Silent King last year, and although there are only a few pages this time, it's coming along very nicely. I'm hoping we don't have to wait one more year to see more... :D

Thanks Tonia and J.S.C., I'm working on it. Been drawing and painting intensively for the last 2 weeks, I think I need at least a day's break!
