Thomas Carter - Affairs of a Dark Concern (finished) - Perth

Postby ThomasCarter on Sat Jun 09, 2007 8:39 pm

Alright, here we go again.

It's been a hard day of gardening for me but I'm ready now. I'm pumped. I'm amped.

All day I've had a few ideas burning into my skull (I try not to think about it, but it's hard), and I can't quite resolve which comic I want to do:
One is a dark comic with a funny streak, and the other is funny comic with a dark streak..

So I'm going to start out with the darker comic (As evidenced by the dark sounding title. I was going to use Darky McDarkdark Fights the Hordes of Darkness, but it wasn't dark enough).

Then, when/if I finish that, I'm going to try and pump out the funnier comic with the dark streak, as funny comics are easier to make.

I'm to grab some dinner first, then I'll start at about 6pm Perth time.

First three pages.

I should point out I'm somewhat rushing these, so the art quality is pretty atrocious. If the story works out alright I'll go back and pretty them up.

Scheize (shizer!) is suppose to be spelled with that German B shape (ScheiBe), but I don't know how to type it.

Unglaublich means "interesting". And no, I don't know German, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Alright, next three pages. They're taking longer than I'd like them to. Too much dialgoue, too many panels per page, hopefully it still reads ok.

Your characters look so natural and are always in motion. Top notch. :)

Three more pages...They may be my last for this comic.

Back in my first post I mentioned grabbing dinner. That dinner consisted of some particularly skeevy looking left-over mee goreng, that I'm now convinced has given me some sort of stomach disease. So I'm feeling like shit, I'm tired, my brain isn't working and I'm constantly distracted by the fact that I'm definitely going to throw up some time in the next 10 - 30 minutes.

Although it really sucks to quit after doing 15 pages. I started the comic at about 6:30pm WA time, so even if I sleep, I should still have another four hours tomorrow after waking up. If I rush I might be able to do the last 9 pages. If I don't finish this one, I'll start a new comic. Ain't no way I'm leaving the 24 hour weekend without 24 completed pages.

Ok, I've finished the last nine pages in about 3 hours. Finishing the last page just before 6:30pm.

I just need to adjust, save and upload them, then post them here.

And it's over...I think I tried to cram too much story into too small a space. What do you think people? You can be honest, I can take it.

Hey Thomas! I was wondering how you were going to end this as I read through it... it felt like I was going to hit a cliffhanger and have to wait for another volume, but I think you wrapped it up nicely. I really did start questioning who was the actual crazy person in those later pages - a really good sign!)

Albrecht's dialogue is kinda cheesy but I think accents in comics are a personal preference thing.

Thanks. Personally I think we need more cheezy accents in comic dialogue.

I realised after posting that what I said may have sounded harsh... I appreciate a good written accent, especially if I can read it out and get a real cheesy accent! It does suit your story in this case. ;)

Throughly enjoyed that tale Thomas, my only gripe was that the dialogue nearer to the start was a little overly cheesy.
