No that's fine I just haven't amended the date. It all just goes to an email address anyway so don't worry we'll get your details. :D

Link to Forums here is stuffed?

Postby LauraSeabrook on Fri May 28, 2010 3:16 pm

The link to the forums here from http://comikaze24.com/ reads http://pulpfaction.net/ however that often bombs out with a "404" error message. I'm suggesting it be changed to http://forums.pulpfaction.net/index.php, which I've advertised in a post at ComicDish (can't say I don't advertise the event).

I think I'm right about this, but wanted to double check: you can collaborate and do say, a writer and artist team provided the teamwork all happens with the 24 hour period, right?

Although is that possibly unfair seeing as the writer could be working pages ahead while the artist worked lagging behind them a bit.

Yes we have regular writer/artist teams join the challenge so no problems there.

Yahoo - publicity pays off (though that page was giving me funny messages)!

Looking forward to this this year, though I may not start until 6pm on Saturday this time (due to mad puppies at home).

Wow, how did it get to this time of year again?! I still haven't printed up my entry from last year ... or the year before, even >_> How shameful!

Now, I see that the starting time on the Comikaze site is 11:00am AEST. As with last year, I want to be done by 10:00am AEST on Sunday morning (so I can get a McDonalds breakfast before they stop making them -- I KNOW it's frivilous, but I need the incentive to finish -- plus, it's tradition!).

Is there any chance I could get a set of challenge items at 10am? I would push myself to be done in 23 hours, but I know I always barely scrape it in and the psychological pressure of being an hour behind even before I've started might make my fragile mind shatter.

Prettiest please?

Hi, i'm a complete newbie to the challenge but VERY excited about it, but with a couple of questions:

1. I was planning to host my pages on my own website, just 'cuz i thought that'd be easier.

But should I post updates on the forums here, too? To verify progress and also for fun / cameraderie :-)

and if so, HOW DO I DO THAT? (I'm a little technically challenged and also new to the forum).

and also, if I'm going to do that (i.e cross-post) does anybody think it will actually be more work i.e. consuming precious time every hour, and I should just do it directly on the forums??

2. Is the 24-hour limit on 'pens down time' i.e. stopping actual creative work or does it include posting? i.e. do I need to have the whole comic finished AND online by 24hours? (sorry if this is actually in FAQs)

3. Jing (above), we're in the same town and have some mutual friends! (Well, Owen.) Are you attending an event like at paperhorse or anything? Even if not, want to get in touch for support or for laughs? I don't know anybody else participating!

Thanks,

Robin

I'm a little late off the mark for asking this - but I didn't write down the file size limit for uploading the comic pages. Could somebody please tell me what it is?

This thread should be called the 'OMG it's the last minute and I don't know what I'm supposed to do!' thread :p (that inccludes the organisers!!)

OK
1. Jing you are very slack and should be spanked. Publicly. NOT printing those comics is a crime. Then again so is printing them.... ANYWAY - the first words will be at 10:30 am EST (Eastern Stupid time for the rest of the country) - so technically you could be finished in time for McD breakfast if you go all 'Falling Down' on the serving staff. However in the interests of NOT encouraging guns in fast food restaraunts, you can start at 10 and either incorporate the words as you go OR if you show me much love PM me and I'll give you some special sauce/words to start with...

2. Robin - yes we need at the very least to see links to your site on a regular basis. Better still use the img tag to post direct links to the actual pages so we can see them in the forum - it makes the judges job easier (and therefore will help your cause when it comes to judging!) Technically yes it needs to be finished and posted by the end of the 24 hours as this is our only way of coinfirming you did actually only take 24 hours. However we are easy going guys and girls so lets see how you go ok? Give me a PM if you have any dramas on the day and we'll sort it out. The main rules are - 1. Draw 2. Have Fun!

3. Felabba - ah the smaller the better; some people are on i-spaz-gadgets so viewing a 40MB picture is NOT going to help your cause in the public voting round! Remember it's not print quality we need - try to aim for 100kb files or thereabouts. Again - if you're stuck on the day - PM me for help.

I'll stay tuned for a bit longer but tomorrow I'll only be up just before it starts (WST for me means no Saturday sleep in!)- so make sure you are all ready to go. Don't forget you can start at ANY time between 10:30am and 11pm AS LONG AS you finish 24 hours later. So if you miss the start don't stress just start from the next set of words.

Enjoy!
