you effing suck. you told me you had done rubbish and that it was hopeless. You are such a damn liar.

Don't be mad, I love this one. you totally corner the 'girls suck' market. you gave me emotions! stop it! plus, the art works wonders. I like the egg. racial minority :) I remember you telling me that one and laughing way too hard. And Dan's stuff was happening only feet away... how odd.

(no, really, this one is awesome. my favourite of your 24hrs to date by far.)

What?! That's like real life. Damn. Couldn't you make him steal her or something.
Seriously, that was a real (virtual) page turner. I've been saying "after the next comic I'll stop" (like with rage), but that hasn't happened yet, so I've resorted to after this page. Glad I stuck around.

You confuse and infuriate me, you know that? How do you do such realistic stories with such humor in such a short time?!

Meanwhile, I'm liking the cut-down free-form style you have going there. It works well.

Thanks for all the feedback, guys! And thanks to anyone else who read it.

I guess it's time to respond to some specific comments.

rumpusroomie wrote:Say there'll be a happy ending!

Sorry, there's no happy endings in my world... Actually, it was meant to be a happy story when I started, I don't know what went wrong.

EvilDan wrote:what bits are true and whats bits are made up?

Heh, I guess all the "plot" such as it is was made up, especially the bit about the cop. But lots of details were real and taken from the party I was at the night before, like the chocolate, and the host being at someone else's party when I rocked up. And I haven't had any alcohol for five weeks.

breachy wrote:I've always enjoyed your style, but the art in this one was so consistent and the story so tight and perfectly contained that I'd say you've outdone yourself.

Aw, shucks! Entirely undeserved, but thank you.

onegreyelephant wrote:gah-- damn you and your emo endings!

I promise living with me will not be as depressing as this comic.

...at least, I hope not.

rumpusroomie wrote:owen this is more evidence why comic in australia is poorer without you.

I don't actually have a response for that, I just wanted to quote you to boost my ego.

Pauk wrote:Please tell me you're planning to kill the cop boyfriend off somehow!

I feel like I should insert an Ice-T reference here.

jing wrote:You are such a damn liar.

Insert Rollins Band reference here.

Timothy Merks wrote:wish you had some more pages to stick the knife further in.

Oh man, I don't! I was pretty much delirious by the end as it was.

Washi wrote:You confuse and infuriate me, you know that? How do you do such realistic stories with such humor in such a short time?!

Drugs.

Washi wrote:Meanwhile, I'm liking the cut-down free-form style you have going there. It works well.

Thanks - the art this time was pretty much just a means to an end, I wrote all the words on each page first and then tried to draw as little as possible to illustrate them. I'm glad people think it worked.

Hey man, that's an great story, all to familiar though....*shakes head*, some people can do awesome things in 24 hours, oh and it makes sense and what not, which is an important element that some comics miss :p

Awww, man. Poor guy!

That was awesome sad Owen. I held on to hope right up to the last panel. And then I cried into my morning coffee.

Excellent, looks like my work here is done.

By the way, in case it wasn't obvious, the words I had to include were police (used in three different contexts), skin (mentioned twice) and quieter (mentioned twice).

Also, I replaced the original version of page 14 a few days ago - straight after scanning it originally, I noticed that I hadn't inked some of Liz's hair and inked it immediately (so it was drawn within the 24 hours), but I didn't scan the page again until a few days after the challenge finished because I forgot about it. (Similarly, I altered page 1 to better fit with the continuity of the story, but that page I did rescan and upload within the original 24 hours, so you wouldn't have noticed any difference unless you were reading while I was still posting the pages.)

Wooooooooo! The triumphant return of Owen! Where have you BEEN?!

This was awesome. I knew there was never going to be a happy ending - I know how your brain works (sorta like mine) - so it was a very satisfying read indeed!

Your art and writing seems to suffer the same problem as mine, in that your regular stuff is very tight, and then POW! you explode under the 24 hour challenge, coming up with something altogether different, and potentially better than if you laboured over every little detail.

Gold. Gold star! Now go make more comics.

I don't even know. (Not winning Zuda, that's for sure. Congrats, by the way. I voted for you.) This is only the second comic I've done this year, I've been getting rusty.

I knew there was never going to be a happy ending - I know how your brain works (sorta like mine)

I do believe if it had finished at 16 pages it would have had a happy ending. I think what happened was that I was so depressed by my two false starts that I decided to write an idealised romance to cheer myself up. Then, once I gained confidence in what I was doing (which didn't happen until about page 18), I'd cheered myself up to the point where the heartbreak ending was inevitable. Let's hope that's not the way your brain works, otherwise we both need help.

Your art and writing seems to suffer the same problem as mine, in that your regular stuff is very tight, and then POW! you explode under the 24 hour challenge, coming up with something altogether different, and potentially better than if you laboured over every little detail.

Tell me about it, it's pretty frustrating really. I do like the spontaneity in the art, but I can't seem to bring myself to draw like that without the "excuse" of doing it all in 24 hours.

Now go make more comics.

Maybe...

New Reader, Loved the Comic very real and had readers hopeful and then downhearted while still enjoying the friend dynamic. Obviously the girl is a bitch and any relationship that might start from what happened from that would have been doomed due to her disloyalty to her poor bf. Went out of his way to give her a lift and she's flirting her ass off with someone else. and yes this comes from a bad place, but meh.

Loved the choc eggs:) I wanna know if something bads gonna happen. All in all, loved it, keep it up.
