I loved the burning eyes of vengeance for poor Doris. Very well done!

Cute and quirky characters, awesome donut-rambo moment, amazing art style... I don't think much more needs to be said. Except that I can't believe you did thi in such a short period of time. Bravo!

Go Paperhorse!

I still can't believe you did it all in colour, I seriously didn't believe you'd stick to it.

The story is just as cute as I thought it would be from the sneak peeks I took at the art while you were working on it. I love the rivalry between Dog and Ronnie B, and the entire lack of rivalry between their sidekicks was hilarious. Plus, great resolution.

And this is only the second comic you've ever written! Unbelievable.

ta for the feedback, everyone!

yes i may have cried a little bit when i was drawing the demise of doris. but it was very late.

looking at it with fresh eyes today i'm actually fairly pleased with the overall result. i'm way new to doing comics but i really loved the whole experience and am already looking forward to doing it again next year with lessons learned from this year (see: boos).

yays
  • the character designs for jiminy and dog
  • the story had things happen in it AND an ending (better result than expected) go me!
  • had several OMG moments about how making comics is really fun and i should do it again

boos
  • deciding to use watercolour pencils on tracing paper and SENDING MYSELF TO CRINKLE HELL (even though the crinkles did not happen when I did tests on thursday... sneaky, sneaky hell-trick)
  • mental note: am not really a drawing-in-felt-tip person. my hand is too wobbly. must work on this (not that i'm against of line-wobble, in fact i rather like it--i'd just like the general shape and feel of lines to be more confident). helpful hints anyone?

overall rating: yay!

In colour. Why is there always someone who puts the rest of us working in black and white to shame; and with colours?

Gorgeous work. Nice characters too.

Your lines don't look wobbly at all, I think you're just still be delusional from lack of sleep. Those lines are brimming over with confidence. But if were to go along with this absurd statement, I'd point out that you were drawing at A5; if you drew at A4, then any wobbles in the line would be less noticeable when the page size was reduced.

Also, we forgot to take the group photo at the end of the challenge. :-(

thanks :D

the only reason i didn't draw at A4 was i was worried it would take too long to colour, and i didn't want a repeat of 2006's A3 pastel ridiculousness. but in retrospect, i think i could have done it. oh well, next year.

and it is a shame we didn't get to do the 'after' photo but it was a bit tricky when some smart-alecs finished five hours early and most people had left by the time the last of us finished.

but maybe it's for the best... we ALL had dead fish for eyes by that stage.

Ha ha! Crane style! Woo! :)

Really effective, simple storytelling, design and characters. Beautiful.
