Armageddon Melbourne Nov. 2008.

Postby Paul Bedford on Sun Jun 01, 2008 6:05 pm

Now, this i'll certainly have a stall at. Last year i was at the simultaneously-run Sydney Supanova while Mr. Pop handled Melbourne. But with Supanova thankfully having been held this month in Sydney (which I won't be attending in any capacity - no negative reason, I'd just rather wait for Doujicon) I 'm free to attend this event which I think will, to put it honestly, shit all over the poorly organised and situated and ultimately disappointing Melbourne Supanova from March this year.

The release of The List Vol II is the main reason for having a stall here, but also I'm yet to either sell or simply visit an Armageddon (having only really come on to the scene last year).

Who else is selling here? Any new titles we can look forward to?

Paul.

yeah think i might be doing something for this, i've only got the one book though so would probably need to share a table to justify the cost.

My pleasure with Fleur, hope she rocked out on her 31st like it was her 21st. I hope Alicia had a great birfday too, i used to have a massive crush on that girl.

Oh i'm not belittling my work. I'll be raving about some of the fantastic reviews we've had from retailers when we showed them the book on Saturday. No i'm just aware of the economy of scale that says Dave's more likely to make money with 20 books than i am with one, if my book doesn't appeal to someone I have nothing else to offer. Having said that I am slowly working on some merch to fill out a stand.

Team Radelaide and Fist Full of Comics are going to be there. I'm printing up this years 24 hour comic plus my hated last years one as well. I am also working on a project with Owen H that will be ready for it as well.

There is about 12 of us coming over so watch out!

I've just burned Stark Reality volume 2 to disc for sending off to Dave, so I'm going to count my chickens before they hatch and say that it will be ready for this con. :|>

Wanted to exhibit at Armageddon... but not sure if i will this year.
(Depends if I get DIGESTED.02 done in time (and if I do), whether I can get table space).
$200 is a bit steep for a single self-publisher... so, we'll see.

I'd like to go, but chances are goo dI'll have to be int he office and I don't have dates yet. I don't want to shell out $200 when there's a strong likelihood I won't be able to go.

As EvilDan mentioned a whole bunch (12) of us from Adelaide are coming over for the con.

But with a couple of people pulling out we have one bed to spare at a hostel in St Kilda if you are thinking of coming from interstate; half a table for the weekend that if you have a couple of books to sell you are more than welcome to hang out at our tables (we've got four). And we also have a weekend pass.

So hit me on my PM and we can discuss details.

Otherwise we are really looking forward to roadtrippin' over and hope that someone organises drinks on saturday night.

Nothing like last minute promotion: I will be a member of the dozen-strong Adelaide invasion of Armageddon, and will have a couple of new books: I've printed up Last Night (my 2008 24 hour comic) with a nice colour cover, and EvilDan and I will be unleashing Stamp Out Evil (which he wrote and I drew) on an unsuspecting world. I think it's safe to say without any risk of hyperbole that it's the greatest comic ever. It is, of course, extremely gross and not safe for work, minors, or the squeamish. As an indication: one page required me to get drunk before I could bring myself to draw it.

I will also have a few copies of My First Zine Issue 2 (a thing I knocked up earlier this year which hardly anyone has seen), as well as the entire back catalogue: How To Save The World: A Beginner's Guide, Basic Wage Kids #1-4 and 5031 #1-3, all of which are well worth adding to your collection if you have not done so already.

Looking forward to seeing Melbourne again and chatting to whoever else is going to be there. Thanks to Mark Selan (aka ConDad) for organising the rest of us.

Basic Wage Kids: A pun-tastic webcomic about a small-time rock band. Totally work-safe.
5031: Sharehouse comics! Sometimes NSFW.
