Armageddon october 2007 - NOW IN MELBOURNE

Postby Armageddon on Fri Jun 01, 2007 10:04 am

It is with great excitement that Culture Shock Events Pty Ltd would like to announce their Latest plans for the first Australian ARMAGEDDON MULTIMEDIA EXPO.
Originally planned to be held in Sydney’s Fox Studios, after much discussion it has been decided to move the event to Melbourne and the central city venue of the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. The expo will be held on the same dates as before, October 13/14th 2007.

This has been decided upon with a number of reasons in mind, the most important of which was for companies and supporters of Armageddon. Supporters of the event will appreciate the conflict with Supanova dates, after many discussions with Supanova it was clear they were not going to come to some suitable compromise with us despite repeated efforts on our behalf and they did not have the desire to support their attendees or participating companies with any consideration to addressing this issue, instead simply slinging mud and once sided propaganda. So we reached a stalemate. But where did this leave the fans? They now had to choose between two events on the same weekend in the same city!

ARMAGEDDON is the largest show of its type in the Southern Hemisphere and the Australian shows will be no different, we will be a major part of the Australian scene in years to come, with this in mind it was decided that the best course to guarantee our attendees have a truly legendary event was that ARMAGEDDON would hit Melbourne in October 07 instead of Sydney.

Initial discussions with various companies supporting Armageddon have been extremely positive. Australia has never seen a show of this magnitude covering every aspect of Australian popular culture including Sci-fi, Comics, Anime, Sport, Wrestling and Music and we know that Melbourne is hungry for such an event.

2008 has also had it’s plans altered with Sydney and Melbourne being organised as back to back shows scheduled for October 08.

The October 2007 event will be one not to be missed, with the greatest line up of guests and events ever seen on Australian soil, hope to see you all there.

Well, for me there was no question which expo I was going to attend. Last year's Supanova was mainly anime based (which I have no interest in) and Gail Simone is coming to Armageddon. She is my favourite writer at the moment, so that decision was not too hard for me.

Now that it's been moved to Melbourne, it raises new problems for me. Living in Sydney, I now have to arrange a trip to Melbourne if I want to go. If Gail Simone is still coming, I definately want to.

So how many people from Melbourne (and from interstate, for that matter) are going to this thing?

Reason I'm asking is because there were some noticeable absences at Doujicon this year, and I was wondering if people were holding off, anticipating Armageddon.

I know some Melbourne people will still go to Supanova, but I'm still curious.

I strongly suspect Phil Bentley and I will be there. Any other hands up?

As appealing as Armageddon looks, I'll be at Supanova this year. I'll try some Armageddon next year.
