If someone told me I'd be starting this at Midnight (essentially) and manage to get it all done in time, I'd tell them they were high on reefer. Or meths.

Ahh, they're both good.

Enjoy the climactic finale! (In a little while when it's finished).

Well, I barely believe it but there it is - my 24 page 24hr entry completed in under 12 hours.

I'm sure it's been done before, but I feel pretty amazed by it - I truly thought after the paint fiasco that this was a lost cause.

Thanks for hanging in there, worthy reader!

Cool use of the levels of hell (I did some research on them recently for a guest strip for Tonia's Maxwell the Demon") and I loved the mid-conversation regarding the porno. Brilliant as always- I give you my Seal of Approval:

That was sweet as, Jules! As much as I love to encourage all kinds of insanity, the black and white pages look better than the colour... I can't believe anyone would try that for starters! This one had me laffin'! ... 'Plain Crash' - awesome pun. ;)

Hey Jules!

Great work, had some really funny moments. And I can't believe you started off trying to paint all of this, man, that would have been astronomical but those first few painted colour pages do look great, too. Anyway, just wanted to let you know you did awesome!

Jace: I wanted so much to involve the actual meanings of the levels but in truth just couldn't find a way to write them in and have them work. Story still seemed to come together okay, but I would have liked to utilise the material given more time.
Limbo was the only one I actually used content in (apart from the saucy level 7!)

Caanan: Thanks man. I liked the 'plain crash' too - amazing what comes to you while yer half-crazy with tiredness and hand-pain. I'm so stoked I managed to get the whole 24 done though + the 6 colour. It's like a dream... I had to go to work afterward too - got 1 1/2 hrs sleep at this point and I'm still finishing stuff for clients! I know you know what I'm talkin' bout.

Gary: Thanks heaps - I'm happier with the b+w over the colour. Had such dreams of painting this amazing comic but in reality it just wasn't possible. Chalk that one down to naivete. Some of the colour works for me, but as a whole it just got sloppy and the black dominates too much, I reckon. It was an ambitious attempt and I'm thankful I managed to salvage the 24 b+w's. Would hate to have finished under what I set out to do :D

Double points? Yeah, I like that... ;)

Met a personal goal which is always awesome and a reward in itself.
Plus, I learned a lot about me and my work last night. Realised I can draw an entire series without the use of pencils (but for thumbnail layouts) and still be okay with the outcome.
In fact, kinda better than ok. I can't believe the world opening up to me here with the removal of my traditional tight-structured inks.

I can be messy and still love what I've created!

Whoda thunk it?

It's looks nice ;), but 12 hours? That's not within the spirit ;) I think if I remember correctly Scott McClouds Idea was to do as much as possible within a 24 hour period, so you should have gone over the pages and neaten them up.

Not taking away from the nice stuff though, and a 12 field paper is bigger then what most people used ;)

It's not 12 field - it's actually registered A4. Used to take reams to TAFE and punch away all day. Getting a scanner bigger than A4 costs too much so I just work smaller. Seems easier that way.

Got messes of 12 field paper left over from my anim studio days though that I dunno what to do with.

But thanks for the kudos - and after just under 24 hrs (including the 6hr+ failed painting stretch and a 3hr work commitment) I wasn't going back to clean up - I got each page to the level I found acceptable and that was enough for me! :D

A freaking amazing effort Jules, personally i'm a little glad you didn't finish it in paint, you already give me an inferiority complex, if you'd painted the whole thing i think i'd cry myself to sleep.

Maggie: The machine was a little worse for wear late Sunday I assure you. However, I'm as stunned as anyone that I could manage this. I knew I worked fast but this has crossed some threshhold even I wasn't aware of. Hopefully it'll last.

Most likely not. Sigh.

Rumpus: I give you an inferiority complex? Wow, that's sayin' something. I had these fanciful visions of painting awesomeness but it just stank up my hopes and my dreams crumbled to ash before my eyes. I shoulda known after Golgotha that painting isn't an instant thing, but I've been doing a lot of 'live' painting as paid entertainment lately and have been creating large works with form and characters and everything so thought it'd be a snap working smaller... and that's where the error lay: There's still tons of content, it's just smaller!

However, it all came through alright. Thanks for the high praise, it means a lot. :D [/b]
