As long as Nicolas Cage doesn't try to audition for Jesse I'll be fine!

Actually, someone the other day said they reckon Cillian Murphy would make a good Cassidy. Can't say I disagree with the idea.

excited - until i read that it's the first time the writer and director have been together since 'grumpierold men'

I'll wait...

meanwhile, someone on livejournal did a preacher casting using the entire cast of deadwood and it was spot fucking on....

don't think it exists anymore...but go through the cast and see if you can pick who is who

Holy Casting Calls, Batman! That's brilliant! ALL the Deadwood cast. Oh jeebus, that's good. Even thinking of some of the minor characters, they can be matched up.

That reminds me. I need to say this before I forget (again).

Dear Hollywood,

Buckaroo Banzai 2.

Cillian Murphy.

Win.

Thanks,
Maggie

Seriously. He looks like Peter Weller (you could include footage from 1st movie and it would be fine!), he can play the type, he's talented and hot... please if there's a god, make this happen. Peter Weller's too old now, but this movie needs to be made before I die!

PS - And Marsden... I don't see it. What, did the meeting go like this?
"Comic book movie, huh? OK, which male cast member from some other comic book movie can we get? Jackman? No? Maguire? No? Affleck? No? Nick Cage? Just kidding. OK. Marsden it is."

PPS - I'm only half kidding... in hollywood... that meeting could totally happen.

Oh i know! They did that with the director too, but they chose the worst comic book films. "Hm, let's use Mark, he's already done Daredevil and Ghost Rider!"

how in god's name does this director keep working? and what comic book creator in their right mind allows him within fondling distance of their titles?

can't they hold out and wait for a director whom they might personally revere to come on board their project? does it always have to be about the moula? could you imagine if alfonso cuaron was given the reins on preacher? clint eastwood? QT? jim jarmusch? david lynch? scorcesse? richard kelly? or the coen brothers?

or failing any of those (admittedly far-fetched) names - someone who sometime actually made a somewhat decent film..?

i was semi-excited to hear about the HBO happenings.. but now i see mark johnson's name in the titles i am steadily less so.. i mean seriously.. was there one part of either ghost rider or daredevil that in any way demonstrated a man with any grasp on what made either of these comics popular (if not great)..?

they were piles of steaming dog shit that the director held up to my eyeballs and wiped viciously over and over and over my pupils for something approximating an hour and a half.. and no matter how hard i wash and i scrub i still can't shift that stain..

Yeah, exactly. It's the hollywood versionof a CEO hunt.

Company hunts for CEO, willing to pay gazillion dollars.
Headhunters present a bunch of people.
"Oh, look this guy was CEO of SuperCorp! They're huge! Let's hire him!"
Never mind that he was the CEO who ran SuperCorp into the ground which is why he's looking for a new job.

In hollywood it's "This director's done comic book movies, let's get him." Never mind that he sucked at it.

simon pegg as cassidey? might be a sense of over-exposure seeing as he's already a character in the boys.. how about sam rockwell as a fall-back? paddy considine?

cillian could do it.. but what about cillian as jesse.. he's got those baby blue eyes.. although maybe he's not hard enough

zooey deschanel as tulip?

i remember when samuel jackson was rumoured to be the saint of killers.. ha..
