COD4

What no COD4 thread yet? Possibly the only game to give Halo 3 a big kick up the arse as the reigning multiplyaer champion of the xbox 360. Even after I put it down to play GTA4, I still came back to it once I was done, and it never gets old.

I didn't have time to reply to this thread because I'm too bloody hooked on the game. ;)

Simply the most heart thumping, realistic (and frustrating) game I've ever had the immense pleasure of playing (while I should be writing). Can't recommend it too highly.

I learnt to play it after watching my btrother play and I've never been into First person shooters but got right into this one.
Online is funny, hearing the guys take it way too seriously, trash talkin the other team's guys in the lobby but then there's the trolls that close the rooms on purpose.

Hey Paul, I thought that you were way too busy working to be playing around with stuff like CoD :|>

CoD is about the only game I've ever really gotten right into, and replay regularly. But us Mac tragics have been done the dirty by the game developers on this one years ago, as its now strictly Intel-only. Which I don't have. Is anyone out there running CoD 4 (is that the numbering of the current one set in the present day?) on Mac OS X under Bootcamp or whatever? Does it run OK? It would be a good incentive to update to a new iMac.... but I'm buggered if I want to go down the windoze box route just to play bloody games....

I guess I'm eventually going to have to fork out way too much and buy a PS3 (but those fucking controllers/hand-piece things drive me nuts). From what I've so far seen of the newie - Call of Duty - World at War - it's set to continue the franchise, although I'd be quite happy just playing the last one properly. Strange that they are going back to WWII again as I thought that the current day setting of the recent edition was one of its strongest selling points. I borrowed a copy of it for a day earlier in the year and although the PS3 via TV approach looked like shit (compared to a decent LCD screen), the game itself looked like a killer.

We've got to talk more about this at the next meet.....

Breathe, Paul.... breathe.

Let it be known that Colin & Paul are so addicted to this, that they missed the last meetup because of it.
....don't let their great comic work fool you - they're geeks!

(When they laugh (after their ventalin pump), they make the high-pitched nasal sound of, "nghaaaaaaaauuuuuhhh!")

Now that I have a console I am looking at the new COD with covetous eyes.

On the one hand, I'm about to become unemployed. On the other hand... I'm gonna be unemployed! What the hell else will I have to do all day?

(Actually, I've been really good about it so far).

Colin, it took me a few weeks, but I'm getting used to the controller. I remember the days when I used to break the numeric keypad on my old keyboard... and I remember breaking a few old fashioned joysticks in my day as well. These are a big improvement. And they vibrate! It sounds like a gimmick, but it's pretty effective.

I'm sorry Jason, but any handheld device that vibrates is just..... wrong!
