Maggie, it does seem a logical time to interview Christian again, given that he's branching out in a big way with The Eldritch Kid and Witch King. Isolated questions don't really make for an interview though, as the interviewer can't really build properly on the answers for further questioning.

Here's a few anyway (please pick one as needed):

- Do you keep a writer's journal to record incidents, phrases people use, etc.?

- To what extent do you visualise your scripts personally and have you ever been tempted to draw yourself (even just thumbnails)?

- What do you see as the differences between writing for a comic and for a screenplay?

Cheers,

Ian T.

Why would one want to write drama when all they have to do is come here.

Sometimes I think the national bird is really the fly and the national sport is bitching.

Maggie, sorry if I was sounding like a fly-worshipping naysayer there... I guess what I should have said is that it'd be good to throw additional stuff (related to list questions) into the interview as needed. I definitely think it's a good time to interview Christian Read (never better!),

Cheers,

ARSE

Postby chelsea on Sat Dec 18, 2004 5:50 pm

Guys, stay on topic. This thread is for posting questions. Maggie is capable of conducting an interview without being told what to do or why to do it. Bitching about Christian getting interviewed when you or your mates are looked over and/or ignored is a topic best posted in your live journal.

This thread's gone on for two pages and there's maybe four questions worth asking. That's arse, guys.

Put down your pencils. Time's up.
Questions, right or wrong, have been sent in as good a form as I could muster.
I'm no David Frost, but I hope it's a tolerable interview.

Thanks for the questions and I'm feeling much better thank you.

Stay tuned for more.

Now... who next????????

I assume you refer to these?

I don't know what deodorant or cologne he uses. Is he a Colgate or a Macleans guy? Does he like to wash dishes with a cloth or a sponge? Cut his carrots into circles or sticks?

I second an interview with the POX ladies. I'm sure Dillon has contact details, Maggie.

Another great interview would be with David Bird from Paper Tableaux.

Ashley Wood (as he hasn't been given the 'treatment' locally at ALL methinks).

Steven Griffin re: Hawaiian Dick

Mandy Ord and Amber Carven.

Gary suggested:

David Bird from Paper Tableaux.
Mandy Ord and Amber Carven.

I'd like to second both of these!

Youc could always do a interview with Kirrily Schell, and Mandy Ord about their passion for both comics, and animation. Does Amber Carvan animate?

Hi folks,

There is an interview with Amber Carven, conducted by Darren Schroeder at http://www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com/s ... 122086.htm
which also has a link to an online journal Amber made of the first year of her child's life (with partner Richard Vogt of MILKBAR fame).

The journal has occasional pictures by Amber, and I found it generally absorbing to read (though I have to admit, if you're not a parent you may not find it particularly interesting).
The candour and warmth with which she writes her journal I found to be a fascinating insight into someone whom I had met (at Melbourne comic meets at the Stork Hotel a number of years ago) but never really knew.

Cheers

All righty. It's done!

The first PF interview, with Christian Read, is up.
http://pulpfaction.net/interviews/christian_read_1204/

This and all future interviews can be found at:
http://pulpfaction.net/interviews/

After the holidays are dead and done, I'm gonna send out a request for interviews from several people. I have a larger list, but the first four I'm gonna send requests to are:
Daren White
Mandy Ord (considering the previous post re: her, do y'all still want a joint interview?)
Ben Hutchings
Greg Gates

Then next:
Ashley Wood
Steve Griffin
David Bird
Trudy fucking Cooper (because I really want to! so there!)

Then.... some more. This shit's hard work.

BUT!!!! Anyone wanting to spearhead an interview on their own, _please_ feel free to start a topic to gather questions or whatnot. Just let me know so I can step away from that one.

Maggie

PS - Christian, I forgot the best question!

I loved it. It's about time that a pro creator stepped up and told it like it is.

It's raw. It's honest. And maybe, just maybe, local creators will take the extra step and up the ante.

Probably not. But there's always hope.
