ISBN Barcode Modification

Postby matt g on Thu Jan 29, 2009 2:09 pm

Hey Folks,

I just got my ISBNs and the barcode for my next book, but the only options offered by the Australian company that handles it (Thorpe-Bowker iirc) are these really tall almost square barcodes.

Everywhere I look I see much narrower barcodes that are only about half as high as they are wide (even Australian books). Anyone know how to get those, or are people just modifying the files they're sent by T-B?

Not sure about the ones you have seen Matt but a lot of the design programs actually let you create different kinds of barcodes yourself. I'm not sure if CreativeSuite does it but I know Coreldraw has a very simple barcode creator that lets you play around as much as you like.

I use the barcodes fro Bowker-Thorpe as they're delivered to me, but I don't think there's any reason that you shouldn't be able to crop out a (vertical) chunk of them them.
