DMC Comics - New Zealand's Finest Comic Book Publisher

Postby DMC Comics on Fri May 02, 2008 10:28 am

Greetings from New Zealand and DMC Comics

We attended the Brisbane Supanova a few weeks back and met some excellent comic creators.
DMC Comics has been publishing a six-monthly (April & October) anthology - NEW GROUND - of New & Established New Zealand Comic Creative Talent, since 2004.
The anthology, "New Ground", is a collectible preview comic of future New Zealand comic series & mini-series, being released at the ARMAGEDDON PULP CULTURE EXPO (Auckland/Wellington/Christchurch).

Because of the interest we've been getting from the creators across the ditch - DMC Comics is now looking at the possibility of an Aussie/International edition of our anthology.

Now here's the evilness of it all, I'm also the manager of Gotham Comics in Auckland. So I'm a comic publisher/ retail Happy

So if any comic creators would be interested in submitting work towards this edition please contact me on gotham@comics.co.nz

Also check out www.dmcnz.co.nz to see what we've been doing for a few years now.

Here's some info on our submission details:
- 300 dpi at 100%
- Artwork reduced to A5
- Full Bleed (if required)
- Grayscale (Colour converted to grayscale is fine)
- Page count 5-12 (check first for available space)
- JPEG and TIFF format
- Please do not number pages (in artwork)

Content must be Family friendly for the New Ground anthology. (IE the sort of comic material you would be happy to sell to your family)

Unsure of release date, just wondering to see if there is enough interest in the Aussie arena for this sort of product and also to see if there would be enough creators to fill an issue.

After that the next step is finding Aussie advertisers (Money) to help pay for printing and production.... you know the fun stuff :)

Check out www.dmcnz.co.nz for more info

I picked up the first 4 issues of New Grouns...

There's some mighty impressive stuff in there, Silver Wing & Pangia in particular, although the Dr Pepper Show reminds me of one of my own artists (plenty of talent, but slacks off in a 'pop-reidisu' style)

I'd love it if you could send some people out again for DoujiCon... It'd be nice if we could include Australian AND New Zealand artists in that (then I'd get to go on about international guests LOL)

Thanks for that Egofreaky

Supnova was at the moment an off chance showing.
Where abouts is DoujiCon? We maybe able to attend depending
Also we wouldn't have anything new until Oct this year.... we publish New Ground in Apr & Oct, this allows the creators to create and me to find money :)

Fair comment iangould

OK - content, not much gory and blood & guts, slightly swearing (one or 2 naughty words)

DMC: DoujiCon is in Melbourne, July 26 & 27.
It's a con I set up so people here would stop bitching about the high price of tables at conventions and just actually sell some comics :|>

Ian: The worst part of it is, I'm CERTAIN if I trace back along my family tree, it'd intersect with yours... probably somewhere in the 18th century... but close enough... Sleep well! MWUHAHHAAAAAA

Egofreaky we have a small event like that over here - Underpants on the Outside.
The Armageddon show here is waaaaayyyyy out of the price reach of collectors & small time dealer for comics..... and worthwhile for publishers once deals are struck.
