Comic wrap?

Postby Anomic on Mon May 15, 2006 1:43 pm

I’m trying to source those fine plastic wrappers that comic book shops use to stop me from reading a comic before I buy it, I can source zip lock bags that would do the job but the finer plastic covers the shops use are lighter and more tamper proof with the adhesive top flap.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier etc.?

Diamond maybe? Actually now that I think about it, there is a supplier that does those things as well as the boxes... the name escapes me though.

AAre you talking about the mylar/lucite bags?
If so, you can buy them from Minotaur in packets of 100 most of the time. It's about $29 I think.
If they don't have any, they'll probably order more if you ask, seeing as they go through a fair few of them themselves.

Also, I'm fairly certain Alternate Worlds has them in stock too

Hey Ego,
The bags I mean are the ones used in the shops not crystal covers etc. for collecting, they’re only good for one use once you open them they’re pretty much stuffed – they have adhesive flaps to stop tampering and cheap skates like me reading it and putting it back on the shelf.

If they are the ones I’m talking about I thought they’d be cheaper (.29cents each!) I can get zip lock bags for .10cents

Most comic shops should carry Mylar bags. They're more expensive because, apparently, the plastic doesn't contain any chemicals that will yellow the paper! I wouldn't have thought many modern comics would yellow anyway. How many are newsprint these day?

Unless you're looking at re-selling them why bother?

Hey Darren,
I’m mainly researching it for when my stuff goes on sale at stalls and shops so that there’s no stock loss due to grubby little kids pawing over them and the cheapskates….
