HAIRBUTT 3D SHORT FILM

Postby jpaulos on Thu Apr 13, 2006 9:19 am

I'm trying to get funding for a short film 3D animated Hairbutt 'movie' (15-30mins). I've got a small but experienced animation company that have already produced some preliminary but highly detailed models based on my designs and a storyboard of a short introductory sequence introducing Hairbutt and his 'world'.
If anyone here (anomic?) knows how or who to approach about this I'd be eternally grateful.

How much are you trying to raise for it?

You could try grants or somehting along those lines?

SBS independent might be a good place to start. http://www.sbs.com.au/sbsi/

When I went to the AFTRS summerskill program many years ago (and I highly recommend it for anyone interested in telling stories with moving pictures it was brilliant and an opportunity to meet industry contacts) the SBS independent producers were really friendly and genuinely interested. Looking at other stuff SBSi has produced I think hairbutt would have good potential. A strong pitch from someone with a history of producing solid outcoms, quirky slipstream appeal and fantastic art, sounds like you'd have a good chance. I'd say try to have a chat on the phone with one of the producer decision making types.

Unfortunatly summerskill is over til next January but it might be worthwhile contacting AFTRS or VCA and find out if they have any industry schmoozing opportunities coming up.

This is a quick guide, as I don’t know your story (age, location etc.) these are fairly generic but if you’re a young transsexual interested in Australian maritime history there’s more money out there…. There are small pockets of money/funding for all sorts of interest groups and minorities (seriously)

jpaulos,
No worries, as I said there are a lot more grants out there depending on such things as age, gender, disability, media platform, content, etc, etc. so if the above list isn’t enough to get you started, start thinking who or what you can involve in your production to cover some of these bases… some might call it cynically manipulating the grants system – I like to think of it as arts survival…

Aslo … http://www.nescafebigbreak.com.au/ has opened for applications…

Good luck with it (the sex change and the film)
