Gary Chaloner: Professional Exciter

Postby makepeace on Wed Dec 01, 2004 9:47 am

Its probably been 20 years since I first saw Gary Chaloners artwork and I still get excited when I see his art. Like all great sequential artists, his drawing talent is interchangeable with his writing talent and he truly has mastered the art of telling a story visually.

I think my favourite single piece of his is still when the Barnacle leaps from the roof on the Southern Cross Hotel (?) in Cyclone #7 or #8. Very graphic, very dramatic. For a long time I wanted it as a tattoo on my back.

Now if the man himself were holding the needle and ink, that'd totally rock.
