The best one I saw was a guy (it was hot so no anorak) taking foot by foot photos of a track and turnout by standing over the line, near the Ballarat station and because he was so absorbed in his tracks he was almost collected by the Pass to Melbourne ??? absolutely priceless

A lot of things inspire me really...

- Movies
Tom Clancy movies really inspire me to write more modern-styled warfare stories, then there is Ghost World and American Splendor, two movies based on work by my favourite writers Dan Clowes and Harvey Pekar

- Comics
well duh... my favourite writers are Alan Moore, Dan Clowes, Evan Dorkin, Harvey Pekar, Jim Mahfood, Garth Ennis and Grant Morrison

- My friend, Rhys
that guy rules, nuff said

- Music
I write alot of comics that have "soundtracks" much like Jim Mahfood, and i tend to base stories around the music that fits the scene.. if that makes sense

- Real Life
best inspiration ever, from annoying loner taxi drivers, to angry people in centrelink cue, to the various clients i make websites for.. the best characters are straight out of the real world

people tell me [ok 'people' dont talk to me, i saw it on tv or the radio not sure] that watching the news and reading newspapers is great for inspiration, i find thats bullshit... personnaly.

i get inspiration from music.

also drugs, not taking them but watching other people who have taken them. this can range from people drinking too much coffee to old folk and the strange pills they take [i work at an old folks home] to people taking LSD. drugs affect people in crazy arse ways and its great to watch. as for taking drugs as inspiration the ones i have tried have simply gotten me far too distracted to even think about drawing.

my biggest form of inspiration comes out of thin air, stick with me for a minute, i just start drawing without having an idea what im gonna draw. except maybe that it will be human, animal, mineral, bruce willis or whatever. just see what comes as i add little bits and pieces. 2/3 of the time it looks crap but its that third time that gets me some really cool ideas.

oh and i mentioned old people. old folk in genneral are just great inpiration either thru stories [if you can sit thru them] or just watching the mad ones wonder around inside there own dimentia.

Hmmm, don't know if its been said yet, in this thread at least, but this place has been a constant inspiration to me since I found it last year and started lurking. Always something new to learn, a good place to put your stuff up and get feedback, provided some non-lurkers come your way, (I have been making an effort to stop doing this myself, its so disheartening to put work up and not get any comments good or bad), plus its choc full of creative goodness in every byte! I'm sure I speak for a lot of people when I say, thank you Maggie!


...Nope, the only think I'm drunk on is inspiration!.....right now anyway.
