Inspiration

OK since this topic is empty I'll be the first. if I'm stuck for inspiration I look toward

Juxtapoz magazine- underground artwork of all nature
Rock posters-Rock poster artists take their inspiration from anything and everything. They appear to have no restrictions.
Vinyl toys-some of the most cutting edge character design
Modern graffitti-ditto
underground animation I haven't seen too much lately but things like MTVS " Liquid Television" really got me interested in animation.

what about you?

I'll join in :)

1. http://www.conceptart.org - learnt more looking htrough this site in a couple of hours than I had anywhere else.

2. The old Heavy Metal mags I've got littered throughout the office.

3. Anything by Mignola, McKeever, McKean, Bisley, Kelly Jones, Sienkewicz, Miller, Keith that I've got lying around.

4. Night, Dawn and Day of the Dead (Romero versions).

5. My ever-increasing army of MOTU figures (don't ask:))

6. Forums like this, http://www.digitalwebbing.com and many others...

That's about all I can think of for now.

An artist who is good, and still modest and kind inspires me. Someone, who is great at what they do, and don't flaunt it, doesn???t brag or get a big head. Someone who is still a small town guy who is willing to answer e-mails and talk to amateurs. A bit difficult to explain, but I???m sure you get the idea. Someone who has hit (or will) hit it big and hasn???t changed from the experience.[/quote]

Surfing around the Drawing Board (http://www.sketchbooksessions.com/shanesboard/) inspires me every time. I definitely love everything a chap called 'Ben C' does, but you get to know the handles of the people's work that you love, and it seems everytime I visit there's always a number of new piccies that blow my socks clean off.

But they don't get far. Invariably they collide with the sub-woofer (mate), and it's not too hard to retrieve them.

Writing: No better inspiration than what you see in your own life. (ie: Personal, media, philosophical.)

Art: Dave Sim, Dave McKean, Dave Cooper. (is there something about the name 'Dave' that inspires me?)

I haven't been drawing much lately, so I looked up Adam Hughs and started to get the feel of drawing again .It's amazing ,how , just by looking at great art just kind of rubs off on you and you start drawin better.
Well , for me anyway.

Remember when your imagination was real? When the day seemed
longer than it was, and tomorrow was always another game away?

Hmmm

Postby Jo B 1 on Sun Jul 03, 2005 8:08 pm

I jumped in here thinking it would be a good place to have a thought but after reading other posts it seems I'm mentally unprepared. Perhaps I'm not that driven. I certainly am influenced by a lot of different artists, I rarely get paid for work I enjoyed doing. I'll be back when I've thought about this a bit more...
