Manga-Zine Fair - Comics, Manga, & Image-heavy zines

Postby caf on Sat Oct 20, 2012 3:20 pm

[promoted to announcement by Maggie for more visibility]

Hello. My name is Cathy. I am a volunteer and events organiser at the JSC Manga Library, a non-profit volunteer run organisation that is housed in the Japanese Studies Centre at Monash University Clayton Campus, in Victoria.

The Manga Library is about to turn 10 years old and we are planning a "manga-zine fair" on Saturday the 24th of November 2012 to celebrate self-published manga, comics and all other types of image-heavy zines. Tables are FREE, 1.5m x 0.75m in size and come with 2 chairs. We are also accepting bookings for half tables (i.e.: 75x75cm, 1 chair).
Please see the page on our website for more info http://www.mangalibrary.org/10years/ind ... =mangazine
Tables can be booked by emailing birthday@mangalibrary.org

The fair is part of the library's 10yr anniversary events, including an exhibition of artwork from Japan, an artists panel, drawing workshops, and live manga translation/readings.
Please see http://mangalibrary.org/10years/ for full event details.

I hope to see some of you there.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.

[Wow, thank you so much for promoting this thread to an announcement Maggie!]

We have now finalised details for our pre-event drawing day.
The manga library is normally closed on Sundays, so we have put Sunday 18th November aside for artists to hangout and draw together in preparation for the zine fair. Doors open from 10am-5pm (in truth we may stay longer if having too much fun).
It's not a 24hr comics challenge, but it's certainly long enough to make a mini-comic or some postcards, and it will be fun to meet up and draw together.

Full details for the pre-event drawing day are here:
http://www.mangalibrary.org/10years/ind ... drawingday
You don't have to have a table booked to take part in the drawing day, it's also for contributors to the communal table, etc.
